Recently disclosed emails reveal that Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, allegedly reached out to convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein, asking for a job during a period of financial distress. After the Department of Justice (DOJ) released over three million documents related to Epstein, the emails surfaced, showing Ferguson expressed a “desperate” need for money.
In one email, she reportedly asked Epstein, “But I don’t understand why you won’t let me be your House aide?” adding, “I am the most capable and I desperately need money.” This correspondence has sparked criticism from royal experts, who describe her actions as alarming.
Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich discussed this matter, stating, “This is beyond common sense.” He went on to emphasize that the situation is troubling, especially given her previous lifestyle, which reflects poorly on her judgment and moral choices.
Meredith Constant, another royal expert, noted that 2010 was a particularly challenging year for Ferguson. This was after a scandal involving the News of the World, where she was caught promising access to Prince Andrew for a hefty sum. “I’m not surprised she was creative in finding work,” she commented, referencing the timing of her email to Epstein.
Additionally, the emails revealed some inappropriate comments Ferguson made about her then-19-year-old daughter to Epstein. Fordwich remarked that these revelations eliminate any chance of Sarah or Andrew being welcomed back into royal circles, suggesting that Prince William would be “absolutely disgusted” by their behavior.
One email from March 2010 detailed a conversation with Epstein regarding a trip to New York, where Ferguson mentioned waiting for her daughter Eugenie to return from a troubling weekend. Other exchanges indicated that Ferguson considered meeting Epstein for lunch with her daughters.
The fallout from these emails has coincided with financial troubles for Ferguson, as reports indicate that several of her businesses are set to shut down amid ongoing economic challenges.
As this story unfolds, Ferguson’s representatives have yet to respond.
