Authorities searching for Nancy Guthrie are currently exploring new leads after discovering unsettling doorbell camera footage that may show her suspected kidnapper.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos informed NBC News on Tuesday that the security footage possibly indicates a pinky ring on the suspected kidnapper’s gloved hand.
“I’m looking at the same image you’re seeing. It seems like someone is interacting with Guthrie’s Ring camera,” the sheriff mentioned to the outlet.
He later added, “I will pass that along to the team. They’ll examine it, and we will see where that leads us.” The idea of a ring might be significant.
This development comes over two weeks after the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother from her Tucson, Arizona home, and follows a setback in the investigation.
Authorities discovered a glove that matched one worn by the suspect, located roughly two miles from the home, yet the DNA collected did not correspond with any records in the FBI’s database.
Nanos relayed the disappointing update through X, pointing out that “DNA found at the scene is currently undergoing analysis, and additional testing will be needed as part of the ongoing investigation.”
He clarified on Friday that the DNA does not belong to anyone “close” to Nancy.
Savannah and Nancy’s other children have expressed their distress over their mother’s situation in various Instagram videos since her disappearance.
Nancy’s family, including Savannah’s siblings, Annie and Camron Guthrie, were released as suspects as of Monday after officials monitored everyone involved.
In her heartfelt messages, Savannah appealed to the alleged kidnappers, saying, “It’s never too late to do the right thing. We believe in the goodness inherent in all human beings.”
Some friends of Savannah expressed concern about her well-being, noting that she appeared visibly distressed and changed after her mother’s abduction. One friend mentioned, “She looks devastated and in pain. It’s hard to see how she can cope.”
