CNN’s panel got quite heated on Tuesday night regarding Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance at the Munich Security Conference. Kevin O’Leary from “Shark Tank” did not hold back in his critique, even concluding the segment by labeling the rest of the panel as “crazy.”
Ocasio-Cortez faced backlash for her comments, including mistakenly stating that Venezuela is “below the equator” and having difficulty addressing questions about Taiwan.
The Washington Post’s Editorial Board described her as “out of line.” O’Leary candidly remarked, “I’m sorry, but this is not a partisan issue. She was terrible. No more!” His straightforward remarks drew counterarguments from other panelists, like Ana Navarro from “The View,” podcast host Lee McGowan, and journalist Kari Champion.
While some defended AOC, suggesting her performance wasn’t terrible, one admitted she “was only terrible for 20 seconds.” O’Leary dismissed this and expressed disbelief at the panel’s perspective.
Champion accused O’Leary of being “condescending,” while CNN’s Abby Philippe attempted to interrupt him. She argued that Ocasio-Cortez had moments where she was on track, particularly noting that “she wasn’t in great shape for less than 20 seconds,” adding that she was considering her words before speaking—something “that American presidents rarely do.”
As discussions unfolded, O’Leary reiterated that the panel was “completely insane.” The argument continued until Navarro told O’Leary, “If you don’t have anything to say, just say it.”
Ocasio-Cortez attended the Munich conference alongside California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Arizona Senators Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly.
Additionally, Democratic Sen. John Fetterman criticized her remarks questioning U.S. support for Israel, accusing the state of perpetrating “genocide.”
