USA and Canada Set for Women’s Ice Hockey Gold Medal Clash

The longstanding rivalry between Team USA and Canada will take center stage on Thursday for the women’s ice hockey gold medal match at the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy. The match is set to begin at 1:10 p.m. ET, with many notable viewers, including “Miracle on Ice” legend Jim Craig.

Craig took to social media to share some words of encouragement for the American women ahead of their game. He emphasized that while the match is important, it shouldn’t overshadow the players themselves. “You prepared for this,” he advised. “Trust the work, trust each other, and compete with all your heart.” He added that playing for the name on the front of the jersey can lead to great possibilities.

In contrast to the challenges faced by the men’s team back in 1980, the women’s team has had a dominating run this tournament. They’ve outscored opponents 16-1 during group play, including a decisive 5-0 victory against Canada on February 10. The tournament portion has shown similar dominance, with Team USA keeping a clean sheet and scoring 11 goals without conceding any.

This showdown is also a chance for the United States to seek redemption for the disappointment of the 2022 Beijing Games, where they lost to Canada 3-2. Since 2010, these teams have frequently met in gold medal matches, making this rivalry one to watch.
