Lakers bring in ex-Dodgers executive as head of business operations

Lakers Appoint Ron Rosen as New Business Operations President

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced the appointment of Ron Rosen as their new president of business operations.

Rosen is stepping into the role previously held by Tim Harris, who has been with the franchise for over 30 years and recently decided to step down.

Before this new position, Rosen served as the executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the Dodgers since 2012.

It’s worth noting that Lakers owner Mark Walter recently took majority control of the franchise, having also acquired the Dodgers. This connection adds an interesting dynamic to his leadership decisions.

Rosen’s journey with the Lakers began as a college intern. Over the years, he transitioned into a front office position in the 1980s, later becoming an agent and manager, notably partnering with Lakers great Magic Johnson.

In a statement, Lakers Governor Jeannie Buss expressed confidence in Rosen, citing his extensive industry impact. She remarked on his exceptional personal qualities and deep understanding of the sports and entertainment landscapes, as well as the direction in which the business is evolving.

Bass further shared his thoughts, emphasizing how challenging it was to find a suitable successor for Tim Harris. He and Mark quickly recognized that Rosen—a familiar face with a solid grasp of the values and commitment seen in both the Lakers and Dodgers—was the right choice.
