Fast-food restaurants are bringing back fish sandwiches for Lent this year.

Fast Food Fish Sandwiches Available for Lent

Lent often means saying goodbye to meat on Fridays, but that doesn’t mean you have to forgo fast food. For strict Catholics, the options at drive-thrus usually boil down to grilled cheese or a fish sandwich. Thankfully, many fast food chains are capitalizing on this tradition, offering limited-time fish sandwiches to cater to those observing Lent.

It’s not just the iconic Filet-O-Fish from McDonald’s; several popular chains are introducing their own unique fish offerings this season.

Wendy’s Crispy Panko Fish Sandwich

Wendy’s is reintroducing its well-loved fish sandwich just in time for Lent. According to a statement from the chain, “This limited-time fish sandwich has earned a loyal fan base over the years, and we’re here to give our fans what they want.” Their version features wild-caught walleye fillets cooked to buttery perfection and pairs nicely with sides like Hot & Crispy Fries.

The sandwich will be available until Easter on April 5th.

Bojangles’ Bojangler Fish Sandwich

Bojangles has brought back its Bojangler Fish Sandwich, just in time for the Lenten season. This sandwich features crispy breaded Alaska pollock fillets topped with American cheese and Duke’s tartar sauce on toasted bread. For those looking to elevate the experience, guests can opt for the Beaujangler Deluxe, which includes added lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles for some extra crunch.

Del Taco’s Shrimp and Fish Tacos

Del Taco isn’t serving a traditional fish sandwich this Lent, but it does offer crispy jumbo shrimp tacos and burritos. These come with house-made pico de gallo and fresh lime. They also have beer-battered fish tacos made with wild-caught pollock, and you can grab three for a good seafood deal.

Dairy Queen’s Wild Alaskan Fish Sandwich

Dairy Queen is featuring its Wild Alaskan Fish Sandwich, described as “fried to golden perfection.” It includes flaky walleye, crunchy lettuce, and tangy tartar sauce. The chain emphasizes that this delicious option is only available for a limited time.

Whataburger’s WhataCatch Sandwich

Whataburger offers its WhataCatch Sandwich, made with wild-caught pollock coated in seasoned breadcrumbs. Topped with fresh veggies and optional melted cheese, this sandwich can be enjoyed as a meal with fries and a drink for $9.49.

Arby’s King Hawaiian Fish Deluxe Sandwich

Arby’s has introduced the King Hawaiian Fish Deluxe Sandwich, which features crispy fish fillet on a sweet King’s Hawaiian roll complete with cheddar cheese and tangy tartar sauce. They’re also offering a more traditional Crispy Fish Sandwich for those who prefer something simpler. Keep in mind, both are limited-time offers and may vary by location.

This Lent, whether you’re craving a sandwich from Dairy Queen or looking to try something new at Del Taco, there are plenty of options for those abstaining from meat on Fridays. It seems fast food chains are stepping up to meet the demand for tasty, meatless meals during this season.
