Georgia educator Danielle Weaver taken into custody on charges of child molestation.

A teacher from a high school in Georgia was arrested on Wednesday after allegations surfaced regarding inappropriate interactions with a student under the age of 18 at Lee County High School.

Daniel Weaver, 29, from Leesburg, faces charges including child abuse and inappropriate sexual contact, as stated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The school initiated an investigation into the claims on February 3, contacting the Leesburg Police Department, which then enlisted the GBI’s help the following day.

Investigators named Weaver as a “person of interest” and identified the victim, who was a student at the school. GBI agents, working with local police, proceeded with the investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Weaver on Tuesday.

Weaver reportedly surrendered to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday and was later released on bond. The GBI has confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing.

Once the inquiry wraps up, the case will be forwarded to the Southwest Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Located in South Georgia, Leesburg is approximately an hour and a half north of Tallahassee, Florida. The communications team at Lee County High School has yet to respond to inquiries for comment on the situation.
