LaMelo Ball’s Press Conference After Crash

Following the Charlotte Hornets’ narrow 105-101 defeat against the Houston Rockets, LaMelo Ball left the postgame press conference abruptly, avoiding in-depth discussion about a recent car accident.

The 24-year-old point guard crashed his custom Hummer in Charlotte on Wednesday, just as the NBA’s All-Star break was nearing its end. Reports state that his vehicle collided with a sedan that was turning left. When asked if he had confirmed the safety of the other car’s occupants, he replied, “I saw her come straight out of the car.”

Another reporter inquired about his mental state over the past day. Ball simply stated, “I’m just blessed to be alive. God is great.”

After that response, he unexpectedly stood up and departed while another question was being asked.

Ball’s Hummer lost its front driver’s wheel during the incident, and the Kia it collided with sustained considerable damage. Video footage captured the moment of the crash, which was aired by WSOC-TV.

Despite the accident, Ball played on Thursday night without any significant injuries. He logged 31 minutes on the court, contributing 11 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds in the loss. The condition of the sedan’s driver remains unknown.

Notably, Ball’s custom Hummer, crafted by DreamWorks Motorsports, carries the unique marking “1 of 1” on its large wheels, hinting at the challenge of repairs. This season, the No. 3 overall pick from the 2020 NBA Draft has participated in 45 games, averaging 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game. He has made one All-Star Game appearance in his career.
