Josh Rosen's rookie card sells for $26,400 at auction

A rookie card of a player who didn’t get drafted in the NFL recently fetched a surprising amount at auction over the weekend.

As reported by Fanatics Collect, a Josh Rosen card from 2018 sold for $26,400 on Saturday. It’s interesting, considering the former first-round pick has only played in 24 career games.

This particular green trading card is likely the rarest of Rosen’s collection. It even features “One of One” engraved on it. It’s a bit unusual to see a card like that for someone who has just 12 career touchdowns.

People on social media joked that either Rosen or his family might have been the buyers. However, industry experts suggested that it was more probable that a collector was trying to complete the 2018 Panini Kaboom set.

According to Fanatics Collect, this card now holds the record for the highest price ever paid for a Rosen card, being “five times the previous record.”

That previous record was set back in 2019 when another card sold for $5,268.

Rosen, a prominent player at UCLA, was picked by the Cardinals with the 10th overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft—just three picks ahead of Josh Allen and 22 picks before Lamar Jackson.

His time in Arizona was brief; he played just one season, achieving 11 touchdowns but also throwing 14 interceptions across 14 games.

In 2019, he was traded to the Dolphins, where he played only six games. His NFL career included just four additional games, all in 2021 with Atlanta.
