Tragedy for Martin Short’s Family
Katherine Short, the eldest child of actor Martin Short, has sadly died at the age of 42. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and it was reported that it occurred at a residence.
This tragic news was confirmed to Fox News Digital by a family representative who expressed deep sorrow over Katherine’s passing. They stated, “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was loved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought to the world.”
In light of this event, Martin Short has postponed his upcoming comedy tour with Steve Martin, which was set to feature their trademark banter in Milwaukee and Minneapolis this weekend. Scheduled performances with his “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars have also been delayed.
The Riverside Theater in Milwaukee informed ticket holders about the postponement, stating, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Steve Martin and Martin Short show originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee has been postponed. Tickets will be accepted for a future rescheduled date.”
Katherine was the eldest of three children adopted by Short and his late wife, Nancy Dolman, who passed away in 2010 after battling ovarian cancer. Despite a successful career, celebrating laughter through roles like the wedding planner Frank in “Father of the Bride,” Martin Short has openly discussed the personal challenges he has faced, especially regarding his children’s struggles after their mother’s death.
Reflecting on his family’s journey, Short acknowledged how challenging the last few years had been for his kids. He emphasized that while many may live in denial about loss, it forces one to confront realities that shape their lives. Grief, he noted, doesn’t vanish but evolves, underscoring the importance of memories of loved ones.
The family is asking for respect and privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
