Flavor Flav Invites U.S. Olympic Women’s Hockey Team to Celebrate
The U.S. Olympic women’s hockey team appears to be gearing up for a celebration. Flavor Flav has extended an invitation to the team to join him in Las Vegas to commemorate his Olympic gold medal.
Flavor Flav, the rapper, made the announcement on social media while Alex Carpenter, a member of the team, expressed enthusiasm about the event during a press conference in Seattle. Carpenter mentioned they’re eager to “make the most of it and have fun.”
This invitation follows some controversy sparked by President Donald Trump’s comments during a meeting with the men’s team. He had stated, “We have to bring the women’s team, you know that,” after inviting the men to his State of the Union address.
Trump mentioned that failing to invite the women might lead to significant backlash, hinting at political consequences for himself.
While his remarks, and the men’s response, caused a stir online, they unexpectedly led to Flavor Flav’s invitation. Carpenter remarked, “It was definitely very special for someone to step up like that and really come to the plate for us after everything that was going on online. I think we’re going to finish the season here and then we’re going to make the most of it. Enjoy it and give us the celebration that we deserve.”
In a social media post, Public Enemy also announced that they would host the U.S. women’s hockey team for a night filled with dinner, a show, and fun.
Carpenter revealed she had been in touch with Flavor Flav, but when asked about specific plans, she stated they were leaving everything up to him to “just have a good time.”
Flavor Flav also promotes the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton teams, extending his invitation to them as well.
Interestingly, the women’s team had been invited to Washington, D.C. for the State of the Union but chose to decline due to prior commitments. A spokesperson for USA Hockey expressed gratitude for the recognition of the women’s impressive achievements.
