Travis Kelce’s Future in the NFL
Travis Kelce seems to have options ahead of him, whether he chooses to continue in the NFL or step into a broadcasting role. The three-time Super Bowl champion might decide to play his 14th season, or he could take a broadcasting job that could bring in around $15 million, according to reports.
The Chiefs’ tight end has expressed interest in being an analyst in the booth, although he’s also aware there are opportunities in a studio setting.
Since rising to fame through his relationship with Taylor Swift in the summer of 2023, Kelce has opened up about his broadcasting ambitions on the New Heights podcast, mentioning it as a potential long-term career.
Being in the limelight is nothing new for him. He hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 2023, just a few weeks after the Chiefs’ victory against the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and soon after, he signed with CAA for representation beyond football.
In June 2024, Kelce surprised fans by showing up on stage at a Swift concert in London, dressed in a tuxedo. Later that year, he appeared in the FX series “Grotescree” as a comic hospital worker. He also hosted a 20-episode series titled “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” which debuted on Amazon Prime Video.
However, it’s possible that he played his last game during a loss to the Raiders on January 4, as the Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
At 36, Kelce’s performance has dwindled recently, and he’s been candid about the toll that football has taken on his body. During a recent episode of his podcast, he shared that he discussed his future with the team—hinting that retirement is an option he’s contemplating.
“I’ve talked to some folks in the facility about where I stand,” he mentioned. “I still love this game, but it’s a tough decision. I think I’ll figure things out once I take some time to rest.”
Kelce also noted that he plans to spend quality time with family and friends, emphasizing a desire to reconnect with what it means to just be human.
Recently engaged to Swift, the pair is reportedly planning to tie the knot this summer.
