Gavin Newsom states that Trump wished for Ivanka to date Tom Brady: memoir

In his new memoir, California Governor Gavin Newsom shares a rather interesting story involving President Trump and his daughter Ivanka. According to Newsom, Trump expressed his frustration about Ivanka allegedly turning down a marriage proposal from football star Tom Brady for Jared Kushner, right in front of Kushner himself.

Newsom, who might be eyeing a run for the presidency in 2028, recounts how Trump told him about an event they attended on Marine One, where Brady, who was single at the time, showed interest in dating Ivanka. Trump mentioned that Brady asked for Ivanka’s phone number, which he provided. However, after Brady called and left a message for Ivanka, she didn’t return his call.

“After some time, Brady connected the lack of response to Trump and it led to him reaching out to Ivanka,” Newsom wrote. Trump said he confronted Ivanka, asking, “Hey, Tom Brady. What’s going on? Why aren’t you calling this guy back?” To which Ivanka replied, “Oh, I’m in love.” Trump then turned to Newsom and gestured toward Kushner, saying, “What does it mean to be in love?”

Trump seemed taken aback, asking Ivanka about Kushner, noting, “Isn’t this guy whose father just got out of prison?” This refers to Jared’s father, Charles Kushner, who, back in 2004, served two years for multiple charges, including tax evasion and witness retaliation.

Later, Trump pardoned Kushner during his final days in office and appointed him as ambassador to France in his second term. Newsom also recounted a moment of silence in which Kushner acknowledged, “Yes, sir. I know I wasn’t your first choice.”
