Court Hearing between Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers
Aaron Phypers, Denise Richards’ ex-husband, recently told a judge he had only $200 to his name and was “just trying to survive” during a court hearing. The session, which took place in downtown Los Angeles, focused on spousal support and attorney fees.
Phypers revealed that he was struggling financially, saying, “I couldn’t buy food” and “I didn’t have hot water.” He expressed embarrassment about his situation as Richards listened from the gallery.
Phypers explained to Judge Nicole Vershon that he currently lives with his parents and siblings in a six-bedroom house that costs $15,000 monthly. He wanted to leave but couldn’t afford an alternate living arrangement, and he was facing eviction over unpaid rent.
Richards had previously cited damage to their shared home caused by “34 of Dennis’ dogs,” and later claims arose about her owing $180,000 in back rent and property damage.
Due to his financial issues, Phypers had to sell his Ford F-150 and was without a car. When the judge inquired how he arrived in court, he admitted, “I borrowed a car.”
Richards, sitting next to her lawyer, appeared animated and was seen whispering urgently during Phypers’ testimony. At one moment, she was overheard saying, “That’s a bull.”
Despite the tension, the former couple walked separately during breaks in the courthouse hallway. Richards, dressed in a black top, leather skirt, and high heels, argued in court that she should not be required to pay spousal support. Her attorney, Mark Gross, stated, “Victims of abuse should not be asked to support their abusers.”
On November 7, 2025, Richards was granted a five-year permanent restraining order against Phypers following previous allegations of domestic violence. Phypers faced four felonies related to an assault on Richards, where she reportedly inflicted injuries, though he denies these accusations.
Phypers’ lawyer reminded the court that he had not been convicted of any crimes, emphasizing that his client “just needs to bounce back.”
