Lindsay Lohan Reflects on Fame and Personal Journey
Lindsay Lohan, in a recent interview with Vogue Arabia, expressed her thoughts on her early career and the pressures of fame. The 39-year-old actress opened up about her experiences entering the industry at just 12 years old and growing up in the limelight.
“When I think back, I often wonder why no one intervened to protect me,” she shared, noting that the challenges of being a teenager in the industry were overwhelming. “At that age, you really don’t know how to navigate it all alone.”
Following her breakout role in the 1998 film *The Parent Trap*, Lohan starred in a series of successful movies, including *Freaky Friday* and *Mean Girls*. However, legal troubles soon took their toll, leading her to step away from acting for a while.
Her first arrest came in 2007 for a DUI shortly after starting rehab. Over the years, she faced multiple arrests and rehab stints, ultimately completing her probation in 2015 when a judge closed her case from a 2012 car incident.
After grappling with her personal challenges, Lohan relocated to Dubai in 2014, where she met her husband, financier Bader Shammas. Commenting on their relationship, she noted, “He is very calm, while I’m a bit more fiery. We balance each other well.” She remarked that her life in Dubai has been refreshing and fulfilling, as it allows her time with family and the chance to feel grounded.
“Living in Dubai has brought me a sense of peace. It’s just nice to be able to be with what truly matters,” she reflected. The city has offered her a more private lifestyle, ensuring that she doesn’t have to constantly “overthink every little move.”
She also mentioned her recent experience of becoming a mother to her son, Luai, in July 2023, feeling that Dubai provides the right environment to raise him. Lohan stated, “I don’t have to stress about someone taking pictures of my child while we’re out.” She appreciates the local laws that protect privacy, emphasizing the significant difference compared to Hollywood.
Lohan made her return to the film industry in 2022 with *Falling for Christmas* and has plans for upcoming projects, including a sequel to *Freaky Friday*, where she took on the role of executive producer. She expressed her excitement about being involved in all aspects of filmmaking, saying, “Having a say in casting and production means a lot, especially having been in the industry for so long.” She added, “It helps me connect more with the characters and the stories we’re telling.”
