New Hampshire Man Accused of Shooting at Country Club
A man from New Hampshire, Hunter West Nadeau, is accused of opening fire at a country club, resulting in the death of one person. He reportedly admitted to the shooting, claiming his intention was to target wealthy individuals.
The 24-year-old told authorities that he carried out the attack at the Sky Meadow Club Steakhouse in Nashua as a form of revenge against the affluent, who, in his view, weren’t doing enough to assist those less fortunate. This information was revealed in a police affidavit.
According to the affidavit, surveillance footage captured Nadeau entering the club wearing a black hoodie and carrying a green backpack around 7:17 PM on September 20. He proceeded into Prime Steakhouse, donned a mask, pulled out a gun, and shot at an employee named Steve Bartman.
Reports indicate that Bartman, who was at the front desk, was punched in the face but survived despite his injuries. Subsequently, footage showed Nadeau firing five additional shots at patrons in the restaurant.
Nadeau is accused of fatally beating Robert Stephen DeCesare, a 59-year-old man who was dining with his family. A third individual was also injured when gunshots were fired at several people.
Witnesses recalled that during the chaotic scene, Nadeau shouted “Liberate Palestine.” He reportedly continued shooting until he was confronted by other patrons and then retreated.
Police eventually located him on the club’s golf course, where he appeared to have sustained injuries from a self-inflicted wound. In a troubling revelation, he described himself as an “evil person” and acknowledged his disdain for wealthy people.
From his hospital bed, Nadeau expressed frustration about the “elites” taking away financial resources, stating he had specifically chosen Sky Meadow because of his past experience working there, knowing it catered to wealthy individuals.
Despite not targeting anyone specifically, authorities noted that he was indifferent to the possible consequences of his actions. Interestingly, he explained he didn’t aim at the wedding ceremony occurring at the time because he wanted to avoid harming “civilians.”
This incident follows another shooting earlier in the year involving a suspect allegedly motivated by similar ideologies.
In January, Nadeau was charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree murder and reckless second-degree murder. He remains in custody without bail as he awaits trial.
