Saudi Arabia Condemns Iranian Missile Attacks
On Saturday morning, Saudi Arabia issued a strong condemnation of missile attacks launched by Iran against US military bases in its Gulf allies. The Kingdom warned it would take action if Iran continued infringing on its sovereignty.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement asserting, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns in the strongest possible terms Iran’s blatant aggression and the flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.” The government expressed its full solidarity with these nations, emphasizing its readiness to support any measures they choose to pursue.
Additionally, the statement highlighted the potential “grave consequences” of ongoing violations of national sovereignty and international law principles. It further called upon the global community to take decisive actions to address Iran’s threats to regional security.
In a related event, Iran conducted missile strikes early Saturday, targeting over 30 sites, including government buildings in Tehran and various nuclear facilities, amid concurrent military operations from the US and Israel.
The missile barrage was reportedly carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) against Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain as part of an operation dubbed “Operation True Promise 4.” This title suggests that the Revolutionary Guards are committed to leveraging Iran’s extensive missile arsenal in reaction to perceived threats. Interestingly, “Operation True Promise” was also the moniker used for Iran’s previous, largely ineffective missile strikes against Israel in 2024 and 2025.
The Revolutionary Guards stated, “In response to the criminal invasion by the U.S. military and the child-murdering Zionist regime, we have commenced the first phase of Operation Truth Promise 4.” They characterized this phase as comprising large-scale strikes against what they termed invaders’ regional targets.
Missiles and drones targeted the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, alongside other military installations in Qatar and the UAE. They also mentioned that military and security facilities within what they call “the occupied territories” were attacked.
Reports indicate that an Iranian missile struck a US naval base in Manama, Bahrain, leading to significant explosions and panic among the populace, with black smoke rising over the city. An analyst noted that the explosion occurred in an “empty section” of the base and that other missiles aimed at Bahrain had been intercepted. This choice of targets might reflect an effort by Iran to avoid provoking a strong retaliatory response from Gulf states by targeting less populated or symbolic sites.
Explosions were also reported in Abu Dhabi, where state media mentioned a fatality, while Kuwait and Jordan confirmed that they intercepted Iranian missiles within their airspace.
