Shooting at Cincinnati Music Venue Injures Nine
Nine individuals sustained injuries in a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at the Riverfront Live music venue in Cincinnati’s East End. This incident unfolded during a birthday celebration, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
The shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. All nine victims were transported to hospitals in the area. Most of them had injuries that were not life-threatening, but one person is reported to be in critical condition.
Details about the suspect remain undisclosed at this time.
The band Solid Gold Dancer was performing nearby when the shooting took place. Band member Sam Steinherr recalled witnessing chaos, saying, “I was outside during a break between sets and saw a bunch of people running from this side of the building. At first, we didn’t understand the seriousness of the situation, but then someone told us that people were shooting.”
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Purewal condemned the shooting as “senseless” and expressed gratitude to first responders and law enforcement in a post on social media. He stated, “On that night in the East End, our community fell victim to a senseless mass shooting. We would like to thank the police officers on the scene, the first responders who acted immediately, and all the hospital staff who worked to save lives this morning.”
Purewal’s comments echo a broader concern about increasing violent crime and public safety in the community. More updates from officials and clarifications from police are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
Witnesses mentioned an altercation occurring before the shots were fired, and there are lingering questions about security measures at the venue.
As the investigation continues, authorities plan to release further information.
