Shia LaBeouf Criticizes Mike Piazza Over Autograph Refusal

Actor Shia LaBeouf has voiced his displeasure with former Dodgers player Mike Piazza, alleging that the Hall of Famer refused to sign autographs when LaBeouf was a young fan.

LaBeouf, who has been in the news lately for his recent arrest during Mardi Gras, shared his thoughts during an interview that also touched on interactions between celebrities and fans.

“I remember trying to get Mike Piazza’s autograph, Mother Kerr,” said the 39-year-old, claiming he had been turned down “90 times” when he attended Dodgers games as a child.

“Brett Butler always signed. Hideo Nomo always signed. Mike Piazza, you’re an asshole, brother,” he expressed. This comment has sparked discussions on social media, with some Dodgers fans sharing similar experiences regarding the 12-time All-Star.

One fan commented, “As a kid, he was my favorite player until the day he refused to sign my ball. That day, he lost a fan. Thankfully, Brett Butler signed my ball.” Another recalled waiting for Piazza in the player parking lot, saying, “He just walked right by me when I asked for his autograph. I’m 48 now and I still remember it. He was a punk.”

Piazza, who played for the Dodgers from 1992 to 1998, was named Rookie of the Year during his debut season and earned All-Star honors in his first five years with the team.

Interestingly, another commenter remarked, “He’s always been nice to me! Gave me pictures and autographs.” Yet another added, “I have a Mike Piazza autographed ball. Sorry Bucha Shea.” It seems opinions on Piazza vary widely.

The media has reached out to Piazza’s representation for a response. Meanwhile, LaBeouf, who has faced legal troubles before, including arrests for assault and public misconduct, has once again found himself in the headlines. Just recently, he was handcuffed in New Orleans, a day after a new warrant for his arrest was issued.
