Rep. Nancy Mace Supports Evacuation Efforts Amid Conflict
As House Republicans come together in South Florida to plan for the upcoming midterm elections, one member has stepped forward to assist with evacuation efforts linked to the ongoing U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict.
Representative Nancy Mace, representing South Carolina, shared with Fox News Digital that she flew to the Middle East on Sunday after discovering that a family from her state was trapped due to the crisis.
Mace, who is also running for governor of South Carolina, remarked, “When people are stuck in a war zone, the only response that is fitting for their office and their country is to help them escape.”
She remained in the region after ensuring her own family’s safety back in South Carolina, collaborating with Gray Bull Rescue, a Tampa-based organization led by veterans, to aid in evacuating more Americans. Many are trying to leave the Middle East as numerous flights have been canceled and airspace has been shut down amidst Iranian counterattacks.
Mace stated she worked alongside the State Department to arrange flights for stranded citizens, with private organizations assisting in the logistics of the rescue mission. She and a group that included other American family members managed to reach Greece on Wednesday night.
Through this mission, 155 Americans—including 11 infants—were evacuated from Israel under Gray Bull Rescue’s Mission 808. Mace described her involvement: “They had people but no planes. So, I flew in to help. Tonight, I am thankful. I won’t forget the experiences I had or the Americans who volunteered to serve our country.”
Gray Bull Rescue has been active in the Middle East since 2023 and has successfully evacuated over 300 Americans from Israel following the attacks that occurred on October 7.
The organization has recently assisted an American fleeing cartel violence in Mexico, and even helped Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado escape from Venezuela in 2025.
Since Operation Epic Fury began on February 28, more than 43,000 Americans have departed the Middle East, according to the State Department. Out of this number, over 27,000 have received direct aid from the U.S. government for local evacuations, a representative explained to Fox News Digital.
In light of increasing security hazards, the Trump administration had advised Americans in 14 Middle Eastern countries on February 2 to “leave their countries now.” Some who were stranded initially have voiced concerns over the State Department’s communication and the clarity of its evacuation guidance.
