Jamie Erdahl Steps Away from NFL Network’s Good Morning Football
Sports TV host and reporter Jamie Erdahl recently shared why he’s been absent from NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.” In a post on social media, he cited a “tragic health situation” affecting his family as the reason for his departure from the show.
“Out of respect for everyone involved, I’m stepping away from @GMFB because of a very personal and tragic health issue concerning a close family member,” Erdahl explained on social media.
Despite this setback, he mentioned he plans to return to broadcasting soon. “I want to express my gratitude to the NFL leadership for allowing me to take this time off for family,” he added, suggesting that he would be back by Monday.
Recently, Erdahl faced another personal loss with the death of his beloved dog, Toby, who passed away after a battle with bone cancer.
Kyle Brandt and former NFL player Manti Te’o co-host the show alongside Erdahl. Meanwhile, reporter Shelly Burruss will step in for Erdahl and others during their absence.
Erdahl joined “Good Morning Football” in 2022 and took on the role of co-host in 2024 when the show transitioned from New York to the network’s headquarters in Los Angeles.
In a previous interview, Erdahl praised the show’s casual nature, saying it diverges from the more serious tone often found in sports television. “Some broadcasts can become really intense or rigid. We embrace the messiness of live TV and want to keep that relaxed atmosphere,” he remarked.
