squawk & Awe.
Heidi Fleiss, once known as a Hollywood madam, is reportedly causing quite a stir in her Las Vegas neighborhood due to her loud chirping exotic bird. Neighbors have expressed their frustration, especially one resident, Shawna Cordova, who says the raucous calls from Fleiss’s parrots, Jin and Juice, wake her up early every morning.
“I don’t know what to do,” Cordova shared, reflecting on her decades in the Las Vegas Valley. Her patience is clearly wearing thin. “It’s like, what the hell is going on?” she complained.
Fleiss had considered relocating to Missouri after one of her macaws was shot in 2022 but ultimately chose to remain in Nevada. Now, her neighbors are describing her macaw as particularly noisy, frequently perched on a power line near Cordova’s window, starting the day with loud squawks.
Cordova, an animal lover who has several pets herself, mentioned that the birds have created tension between her and Fleiss. She expressed that her new home, bought for $850,000 earlier this year, comes with an aviary housing over 30 birds that she prefers to let roam freely.
Fleiss often shared the antics of her birds on social media and recently revealed that someone, whom she did not identify, sent animal control to intervene. “What about the Karen next door?” she remarked on Instagram, pointing out the neighbor’s grievances.
Fleiss believes that her problematic relations with neighbors stem more from her past than the noise from her birds. “I think she just doesn’t like me,” she commented, recognizing that changing someone’s perception can be a tough hill to climb.
Fleiss, who ran a high-profile prostitution ring in the 1990s catering to celebrities including Charlie Sheen, has faced her share of controversies, including a conviction that was later overturned. After spending time in prison for tax evasion, she retreated from public life, focusing instead on her birds.
While she maintains she wants to keep the peace, Fleiss has filed a noise complaint with local authorities amidst ongoing tensions. Cordova mentioned that local regulations limit bird ownership in her area due to its proximity to the airport, which might complicate Fleiss’s situation.
In 2022, Fleiss also encountered issues regarding the custody of her macaws with a former employee, adding another layer to her tumultuous relationship with her feathered friends and neighbors alike.
