Ingersoll: Notable (Foolish) Final Remarks of a Deceased Terrorist

Greetings, Dear Reader,

There’s nothing quite like hearing about dead terrorists. It’s just… well, it’s a relief, really.

This incident was a bit bizarre, though. Reportedly, just before chaos erupted, someone asked, “Is this ROTC?” The students, who were future military officers, answered in the affirmative. Shortly after, the attacker shouted “allahu akbar” and began shooting, resulting in the tragic death of Army Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, the ROTC commander at Old Dominion University—a soldier with an impressive record of service.

But, perhaps surprisingly, the ROTC students didn’t back down. They rushed the assailant, managed to subdue him, and then… how do I put this? They killed him—manually, that is.

This led to a rather awkward press conference where an FBI spokesperson was asked, “How is he deceased?” The response? “Uh, there were students in that room who subdued him and, uh, rendered him no longer alive. I don’t know how else to say it.”

It’s a little darkly humorous, I admit. But I digress. I can almost imagine Shah in a light-hearted moment at the gates of St. Peter’s, looking down and saying, “Geez, Pete, they really got him, eh?”

But back to reality. In a surprising twist, the Soros-backed District Attorney in Norfolk, Virginia, has chosen to blame law-abiding Republicans. Ramin Fatehi expressed dismay over how people seem to prioritize guns over children, synagogues, or college students. It’s a bit much, don’t you think?

Fatehi went on to characterize responsible gun owners as part of a “cult” contributing to societal issues that would only worsen without what he calls “common sense gun control measures”—which really means blanket bans.

Now, I won’t dive deep into Fatehi’s record, but let’s just say it’s quite the story. He’s known for reducing sentences for repeat offenders who just keep committing crimes. And yes, he fumbled a homicide case that led to the deaths of three people, including a reporter. That’s worth a head shake.

Now, Jalloh—he’s the assailant—had been previously convicted of supporting ISIL and had done time. Why was he armed? He was even on supervised release. What kind of supervision is that, anyway? It raises so many questions about our law enforcement and the policies that let people like him slip through the cracks.

If we’re allowing people with such backgrounds to roam free, you’ll find me buying more firearms. Just saying.

Interestingly, the person who took him down apparently used a knife, which, by campus rules, was also illegal. Will the DA take action against those who intervened? Who knows? That would just be the icing on the cake.

In other news, there’s talk about how supporters want more deportations. It seems there’s a growing sentiment for stricter measures.

And then there’s this irony: as young people adopt older generations’ hobbies and behaviors, it’s clear that maybe the older ways weren’t so bad after all. Perhaps we’ll see a renaissance of “old-school” activities soon. Who knows?
