Glenn Davis Released Early from Prison

Former NBA player Glenn Davis is making his way home sooner than anticipated, after being released from prison Thursday, 17 months into a 40-month sentence. Davis had faced charges for trying to defraud a health benefit plan.

His attorney, Brendan White, mentioned that Davis made good use of his prison time, engaging in various programs. White emphasized that Davis is eager to reintegrate into society, stating, “He is ready to become an effective member of society again.”

Davis expressed his excitement in a video posted online, declaring, “They tried to hold me down, you know what I’m saying? But I’m back, dude. I’m back, baby.”

In November 2023, Davis was part of a group of individuals indicted for submitting fraudulent medical claims to the NBA Player Health and Welfare Benefits System. Although originally set to be released in September 2024, he received nearly two additional months to finish a documentary project before his early release.

Following his prison term, Davis will have three years of supervised release, which includes mandatory classes on financial management and drug treatment. He is also responsible for paying $80,000 in restitution.

There’s a plan for Davis to transition out of Half House by early July, marking another step in his recovery journey.

Davis famously played for the Boston Celtics during their 2008 championship run and also donned the jerseys of the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers over his nine-year NBA career. He graduated his playing days at a hefty 290 pounds.
