Gavin Newsom brings his book tour to Miami — his fifth trip this year.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is traveling again, this time to Florida, as part of his well-publicized book tour. Apparently, this marks his fifth trip outside the state this year.

Newsom landed in Miami on Friday to deliver a promotional speech, with tickets priced at $65. During the event, he discussed his memoir, “Youth in a Hurry,” in a conversation with Univision anchor Jorge Ramos and his daughter, Paola. The memoir is described as a “deeply restorative story about identity and belonging, capturing the significant moments that influenced his political journey.”

His last major media appearance in Florida was back in 2022, where he took a jab at Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, suggesting that frustrated Floridians should consider moving to California.

“I urge all Floridians to join us in this fight or come out to California, where we value freedom,” Newsom said then.

This trip to Miami fits into his broader agenda as he seeks to elevate his profile ahead of a likely presidential bid. While the governor’s office hasn’t disclosed how many days he will be out of California this year, estimates indicate he could spend over two weeks overall, considering two long trips to Europe and three related to his book.

Newsom’s spokeswoman, Izzy Gurdon, mentioned that his travel includes state business, economic promotions, and various political engagements. She added, “Unlike Donald Trump, who spent a significant part of his presidency on the golf course, the Governor stays connected with his team and carries out his responsibilities wherever he is.” The governor’s trip to Davos earlier this year also received attention for his remarks aimed at world leaders.

In fact, his January visit to Davos kept him busy for about four or five days, including travel time, where he took the opportunity to challenge President Trump. Shortly after, he traveled to Germany for the Munich Security Conference, promoting U.S. innovations in manufacturing and stirring discussions about his potential run for president.

His book tour has included stops in key Democratic primary states like South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Nevada. For instance, he kicked off a recent promotional trip in Nashville before heading to various locations including Atlanta and New York.

Earlier this month, Newsom also held events in Las Vegas and Portsmouth, with reports indicating he made a stop in Boulder City, Nevada. At these events, attendees received a free copy of his book with their ticket purchase. His team has reportedly sold around 100,000 copies, making it a bestseller.

Additionally, he’s reaching out to campaign donors, regardless of donation size, to further elevate his national profile through his political action committee, the Campaign for Democracy.

When asked about his presidential aspirations, Newsom remained noncommittal, stating it was “too early to say” at a recent news conference.
