U.S. Men’s Baseball Team to Wear Hockey Sweaters Pre-Game

As members of the U.S. men’s baseball team gathered at Lawndepot Park on a Tuesday afternoon, they were met with a surprise. Instead of the expected baseball gear, they found themselves preparing for hockey.

In an interesting twist, Team USA will don the official game-worn sweaters from the 2026 Winter Olympics, where the U.S. hockey team clinched the gold medal, just before their World Baseball Classic championship match against Venezuela.

This sweater, famously worn during an overtime victory over Canada, will have its moment in the humid Miami sun. Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong reached out to Olympic star Jack Hughes, who then personally helped expedite this creative plan.

Thanks to Fanatics, 36 sweaters were sourced, which should allow players, coaches, and staff to arrive at their team hotel in style ahead of the big game.

There’s a sense of hope riding on these garments as the U.S. aims for its second WBC title. This marks their third consecutive year reaching the finals, while for Venezuela, it’s their inaugural championship game appearance.

The first pitch is scheduled for 8 PM ET, so fans should definitely tune in.
