Luke Combs Prioritizes Family Over Fame
Luke Combs, known for his hit “Days Like These,” has made it clear that his main focus is his family. The singer has expressed that he prefers spending quality time at home over the glamour that comes with being in the spotlight. When he’s not busy touring or performing, he enjoys his time as a homebody.
“If that means I upset some folks by not dating around or worrying about my ‘cool’ factor, then so be it,” he remarked. “Honestly, if missing out on a Grammy or a CMA Award is the price for that, would I even care?”
Combs has promised his wife, Nicole Hocking Combs, that he would actively participate in parenting their children.
Creating a Normal Childhood Amidst Fame
The singer believes it’s vital for his three kids to have an ordinary upbringing before they grasp the complexities of fame. At 36, Combs often sees himself as a “stay-at-home dad,” at least during intervals between performances.
“Most weeks, I spend four days at home,” he shared during a podcast appearance. “Daily routines involve waking the kids, changing diapers, bathing them, and preparing meals. I mean, that does take a lot of my time, but it’s exactly what I want.” He continued, “I want my kids to experience as normal a childhood as they can, especially when they’ll eventually face some unusual situations.”
To foster this sense of normalcy, Combs emphasizes responsibility in their home life. “Our living room doubles as a playroom,” he explained. “The kids can enjoy themselves there, but at the end of the day, we all pitch in to clean it up together.” He acknowledged that while his young children might not help much just yet, they’re slowly beginning to understand the process.
The Combs family resides in a modest 2,000 square foot home, featuring two bedrooms—one for Luke and Nicole, and another shared by their sons. Combs noted, “We’re always close. It keeps everyone connected.” Indeed, the singer feels that grounded living is key to preventing the children from becoming too overwhelmed with their father’s celebrity status.
Reflecting on how he met Nicole, Combs recalled their chance encounter in January 2016 at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Nashville. “From the moment we started dating, it was different. I sensed she was special,” he said. Nicole echoed his sentiments, revealing how they quickly felt comfortable being their authentic selves around each other. “We realized we could truly ‘be weird’ in front of each other,” she added, indicating a deep connection where they could embrace their quirks together.
