'Baywatch' Star Alexandra Paul Detained for Releasing Beagles at Animal Rights Demonstration

Actress Arrested During Animal Rights Protest

Actress Alexandra Paul, known for her role in Baywatch, was arrested on Sunday morning while participating in an animal rights demonstration. She, alongside a group of 50 to 60 activists, faced trespassing charges for allegedly releasing dogs from Ridge Run Farms, a breeding facility located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin.

According to reports, Paul was one of around 20 individuals taken into custody during the protest. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office noted that the group was seen on camera entering the facility and removing numerous dogs. Although some of the beagles have been retrieved and returned, a number of them are still unaccounted for, which raises concerns.

Ridge Run Farms has attracted criticism from animal rights advocates because it is one of the few major dog breeders in the U.S. that supplies animals for scientific research. Wayne Shun, a lawyer and activist involved in the protest, stated, “These dogs are being caged, poisoned, and even mutilated at Ridge Run Farm.” He further emphasized that if any crimes were committed, those dogs would have been rescued sooner.

Last year, Ridge Run Farms reached a settlement agreement with Dane County, promising to cease the sale of dogs bred specifically for biomedical research by July 1, 2026.

Dane County Sheriff Calvin Barrett expressed understanding of the strong feelings surrounding the dogs at Ridge Run Farm but reminded the public that illegal activity cannot be tolerated. He encouraged involvement in lawful and productive means for those concerned about animal welfare.

Members of a group named the “Ridge Run Dog Rescue Coalition” claimed they successfully took 31 dogs from the facility, asserting that police have only managed to recover eight of those animals.

This incident isn’t the first time Paul has had legal troubles over animal issues; in 2021, she faced misdemeanor theft charges for taking chickens from a Foster Farms truck. She has stated that she was found not guilty in that case.
