Attention, Masters Champions!
On Wednesday, the menu for Rory McIlroy’s inaugural Masters Champions Dinner was revealed. This comes just weeks before the 36-year-old from Northern Ireland prepares to defend his title at Augusta National for golf’s first major of the season.
The dinner, celebrating recent Masters winners, includes a range of appetizers like peach and ricotta flatbread, rock shrimp tempura, bacon-wrapped dates, and grilled elk.
Guests have the option of choosing between Wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon, along with McIlroy’s personal favorite, yellowfin tuna carpaccio.
McIlroy shared, “My wife, Erica, and I really enjoy this restaurant in New York called Le Bernardin. The chef, Eric Ripert, prepared this dish. It’s yellowfin tuna carpaccio, paired with a very French baguette and a thin slice of foie gras on top. The club collaborated with me to create this dish, wanting it to be perfect for the evening. I think that’s really great.”
The meal concludes with a dessert of sticky toffee pudding.
Ranked second in the world, McIlroy experienced a memorable victory last April at the Masters, winning against Justin Rose in a one-hole playoff and joining the ranks of those who have completed the Grand Slam in golf.
That win, on the 18th hole, marked McIlroy’s first major title in a decade. He reflected on the day, saying, “There were moments in my career where I doubted I would ever get to wear this nice jacket. I was nervous; it was one of the hardest days I’ve faced on the golf course.”
McIlroy celebrated this notable achievement with his five-year-old daughter Poppy and wife Erica Stoll, just months after their surprising divorce. They tied the knot in 2017.
His menu announcement follows a challenging performance where he tied for 46th at even par during The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Shortly before that, McIlroy had to withdraw from the Arnold Palmer Invitational due to a back issue.
Cameron Young, an American golfer, emerged victorious at the Players Championship with a score of 13 under par, marking his second title on the PGA Tour.
The 2026 Masters is scheduled for April 9th to 12th.
