Godzilla Makes a Splash at the F1 Japanese Grand Prix
Next week, Godzilla is set to make a memorable appearance at the F1 Japanese Grand Prix. This comes as part of an exciting partnership unveiled Wednesday between the TGR Haas F1 Team and Toho Corporation, along with TOHO International. The famous monster will feature in a special edition livery for Haas during the race, with a reveal event planned at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya on March 24th. After that, the themed livery will be displayed at Haneda Airport Terminal 2 from March 25th to March 30th.
Furthermore, Haas intends to showcase this collaboration again at the US Grand Prix in October, right before the US theatrical debut of godzilla minus zero. This film is set to hit theaters on November 6th.
Interestingly, this marks the very first time Haas F1 Team has teamed up with an entertainment intellectual property.
Ayao Komatsu, the Team Principal of TGR Haas F1 Team, commented, “This presents a unique chance to expand our brand’s reach and represents a first for both TGR Haas F1 Team and TOHO.” He also expressed his excitement about featuring a global icon like Godzilla in their sport, especially during such a significant year for their franchise. “There’s a lot happening this season, and we want our fans to come together and celebrate.”
Keiji Ota, the Senior Managing Executive Officer and Chief Godzilla Officer of Toho Corporation, expressed pride in the collaboration: “We are honored to announce this partnership between a cutting-edge F1 team and Godzilla, a cultural icon that has persisted and evolved for over 70 years since its inception in Japan.” He added, “Godzilla embodies a powerful resilience that aligns perfectly with the TGR Haas F1 Team’s goal of breaking barriers. This collaboration promises to deliver an exciting experience for both Godzilla and TGR Haas F1 Team fans around the globe.”
The F1 action resumes next week at the Japanese Grand Prix, and Godzilla will be joining the excitement on the grid.
