Middle Eastern Nations Condemn Iran’s Attacks

A coalition of 12 Arab and Islamic nations expressed their strong condemnation of Iran’s recent missile and drone strikes, which targeted civilian infrastructure. This collective statement is a warning to Tehran against any further escalation of tensions.

During a consultative meeting held in Riyadh, foreign ministers from Qatar, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates came together to issue a unified message.

The ministers accused Iran of intentionally attacking residential neighborhoods, oil facilities, airports, and various diplomatic sites throughout the region. They emphasized the right to self-defense for countries affected by these actions, invoking Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and urged Iran to cease its assaults and adhere to international norms.

Additionally, concerns were raised regarding Iran’s need to respect territorial integrity, stop supporting militias tied to Arab nations, and avoid any actions that might jeopardize maritime security, particularly in crucial shipping lanes like the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.

The statement also reaffirmed support for Lebanon’s sovereignty while denouncing Israel’s actions there and its broader aggressive policies in the region.

The ministers committed to continuous dialogues and coordination to monitor the evolving situation, ensuring a shared stance on necessary actions to protect their countries and deter any future attacks.

This meeting followed a day of increased hostilities, sparked by an Israeli strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field, which led to Iranian retaliation against infrastructure in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, including attacks near Doha’s Ras Laffan, the largest LNG production site globally.

In response to these developments, oil prices surged; Brent crude jumped to $114.08 per barrel while the U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate, climbed to $97.41.

President Trump conveyed a warning on his Truth Social platform, indicating that Israel would temporarily refrain from further attacks unless Iran escalates the conflict. He further expressed that the U.S. is prepared to respond decisively should Qatar’s LNG facilities come under threat again, stating that such an attack would elicit a reaction the likes of which Iran has never experienced.
