Rama Duwaji removes old X account after earlier posts praising Palestinian terrorists and using the N-word come to light

Rama Dwaj, the wife of Mayor Zoran Mamdani, recently deactivated her old X account after several inflammatory posts surfaced that praised Palestinian terrorists and criticized Israel and the U.S. military.

Dwaj, who is 28 and serves as the first lady of New York City, faced significant backlash due to her social media history over the last couple of weeks. She decided to delete her account just one day after these posts came to light, as highlighted by a report from the Washington Free Beacon. This report revealed she had shared alarming content on X and Tumblr during her late teens and early twenties.

Her X account, now deleted, went by the username @_RamaDee, but her Instagram remains active with a following of two million.

Her past digital activities have drawn scrutiny, especially since it was discovered that she had “liked” an Instagram post celebrating the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas. One of the posts even insinuated that the rape of hostages and victims was a “collective hoax.”

According to the Beacon, some of the controversial posts can be traced back to when she was just 15 years old in 2013, identified through facial recognition technology.

In a post from 2015, she expressed that Tel Aviv “shouldn’t exist in the first place” and labeled its residents as “occupiers.” In another post from two years ago, she used a racial slur.

On her now-removed Tumblr account, there are posts that laud Palestinian plane hijacker Leila Khaled and criticize U.S. soldiers for “mercilessly slaughtering Third World civilians” to uphold “American hegemony.” Additionally, a repost from December 2015 claimed white people were responsible for founding al-Qaeda.

Throughout the controversy, Dwaj has remained quiet, and City Hall has not issued a comment. However, her husband, known for his strong criticism of Israel, defended her amidst the uproar.

“My wife is the love of my life, and she has never held an official position in my campaign or at City Hall,” Mamdani said, responding to reporters last week. “I was elected to represent all 8.5 million people in the city, and with that role comes the responsibility to address questions regarding my ideas and positions.”
