Eddie Hall honors Chuck Norris: 'Total legend'

Retired fighter Eddie Hall expressed his “disappointment” over the death of actor and martial artist Chuck Norris, who passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 86 in Hawaii.

Hall, the 2017 World’s Strongest Man, mentioned that he had recently begun chatting with Norris on social media.

“So disappointed with this news today!! @chucknorris an absolute legend, we just started messaging here a little bit and was hoping to meet him someday,” Hall wrote, sharing a nostalgic photo of Norris.

“He just turned 86 and was so amazing! It’s tough to handle when things like this happen 💔 Stay safe out there 🙏. Big Love the Beast™️,” he added.

Norris’ family announced his passing in an Instagram update on Friday, stating that he had been hospitalized recently.

The specific cause of death remains undisclosed.

“While we wish to keep this situation private, we want to assure you that he was at peace and surrounded by family,” his family said in a statement.

They also acknowledged the public’s concern, saying, “Many of you have heard about his recent hospitalization and we sincerely appreciate all the prayers and support you have sent him. As we mourn this loss, we ask for privacy for the family during this time.”

TMZ reported that Norris had announced his hospitalization in Hawaii on Wednesday due to an unspecified medical emergency, which occurred on Kauai, though he felt he was doing well.

Earlier this month, Norris shared about his “health condition” in an Instagram post celebrating his 86th birthday on March 10. He stated, “I’m not getting old. I’m just leveling up.” He included workout videos, adding, “I am 86 years old today, and nothing makes me feel youthful like a playful act on a sunny day.”

He expressed gratitude for his health and for the opportunity to continue pursuing what he loves, thanking fans for their immense support over the years.

Norris is known for his iconic role as Cordell Walker in the 1980s films “Delta Force” and “Missing in Action,” as well as the 1990s CBS show “Walker, Texas Ranger.”

He is survived by his wife, Gina O’Kelly, whom he married in 1998 after meeting on the set of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” along with their children.
