Chuck Norris Passes Away at 86: ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ Actor Remembered for Strong Faith in God

Chuck Norris, the iconic martial artist and internet phenomenon, passed away on Thursday at the age of 86. His career was marked by two significant phases: he initially gained fame as a martial arts champion in the 1960s and 1970s after starting karate during his time in the Korean Air Force. Later, he transitioned into acting, becoming well-known as an action star in various films, especially in his leading role in Walker, Texas Ranger. Over time, he evolved into a larger-than-life character, thanks in part to the countless memes that portrayed him as almost superhuman.

A statement on his social media accounts expressed, “With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we wish to keep this private, know that he was at peace and surrounded by family. To the world, he was a martial artist, an actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, a wonderful brother, and the heart of our family.”

He was known for living with faith and purpose, inspiring millions through his dedication and kindness. Besides his entertainment career, Norris was politically active, advocating for conservative causes and sharing his beliefs in various columns and books. In his 2004 book Against all odds: my story, he reflected on his journey, mentioning, “I had a mother who brought me closer to the Lord when I was young,” adding, “Though there were times I strayed, He was always with me.”

Norris shared how his wife Gehna helped him reconnect with his faith. He reminisced about how meeting her led to shared Bible readings, changing his path back to spirituality.

His family stated, “Our hearts are broken, but we cherish the life he lived and the moments we had with him.” They appreciated the global support from fans, who meant so much to both him and his loved ones. As they navigate this loss, they requested respect for their privacy during this time.

Norris is survived by his wife and twin children, Dakota and Danilee, both 24. Dakota Norris expressed his admiration in an Instagram post, saying, “It’s tough to convey this, but I’ll try. You’ve always embodied generosity, kindness, and faith. You were the best dad I could ask for. I’m proud to share your legacy.”

In her own tribute, Danilee recalled her father’s protective nature and deep love. “He was my protector from day one,” she said. Reflecting on their bond, she highlighted his warrior-like exterior but noted the immense love he had within. “I will carry on his legacy and continue to show the compassion he exemplified,” she added, affirming her gratitude for the wisdom and love he imparted.
