According to their statement, he passed away peacefully in his sleep due to natural causes. They highlighted that many people recognize him for his acting, particularly the characters he portrayed throughout his career. More recently, Brendon had discovered a passion for painting and art, which he loved sharing with close ones and fans. He was described as passionate and sensitive, always wanting to create.
The family acknowledged that those who truly knew him understood that his artwork reflected his genuine self. They mentioned that while Nicholas had faced personal struggles, he was on medication and undergoing treatment for his diagnosis, feeling hopeful about his future at the time of his passing.

In 2022, Brendon’s Instagram account revealed he had suffered a heart attack and was later diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. A year later, he mentioned on Instagram that he had undergone multiple spinal surgeries and was dealing with cauda equina syndrome, affecting nerve roots related to movement and sensation in the legs and bladder.
Brendon rose to fame portraying Xander Harris on *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* from 1997 to 2003. He also appeared in films like *Psycho Beach Party*, *Hard Ground*, and *Survivor Island*, as well as popular TV shows such as *Private Practice* and *Criminal Minds*.
On the 25th anniversary of *Buffy*, he expressed happiness about the show’s impact on fans, despite some bittersweet memories, and conveyed gratitude for his role as Xander and connections made along the way.
Later in life, Brendon faced challenges with substance abuse and mental health, which resulted in multiple arrests on felony charges.
