Trump Shares News of Robert Mueller's Death: "I'm Glad He's Dead"

Former FBI Director Robert Mueller Passes Away

Former FBI director and special counsel Robert Mueller has died at the age of 81, as reported by various news outlets.

Mueller served as the head of the FBI for 12 years, from 2001 to 2013, after being appointed by President George W. Bush. During Donald Trump’s presidency, he was also appointed as a special prosecutor at the Department of Justice, where he investigated claims of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

After nearly two years of investigating, Mueller found no definitive evidence of collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his reaction, stating, “Robert Mueller just passed away. I’m glad he’s dead. He can’t hurt innocent people anymore!”

Mueller’s family revealed in a statement that he had been battling Parkinson’s disease for several years. According to information shared with the New York Times, he was diagnosed in the summer of 2021.

His family noted, “Bob retired from practicing law at the end of that year. He taught at his law school alma mater in both fall 2021 and 2022, retiring again at the end of 2022. His family requests that his privacy be respected,”

Earlier in August 2025, it was reported that Mueller had been living in a memory care facility. This news surfaced just weeks before he was scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee regarding the FBI’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. A subpoena had been issued for him that very day.

Later, after learning of his health conditions, the committee decided to withdraw the subpoena against him for the time being. Mueller’s extended inquiry into the so-called “Russiagate” concluded with a significant 448-page report.

The report stated, “Specifically, the authorities have found no evidence that would establish beyond a reasonable doubt that campaign officials, including Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, and Carter Page, acted as agents of, or at the direction, control, or request of, the Russian government during the relevant period.” It went on to discuss various evaluations under federal laws, noting that charges had only been brought against a few individuals regarding their activities linked to Ukraine.
