Erin Andrews and Carissa Thompson from Fox Sports recently expressed their thoughts on Dak Prescott, the Cowboys quarterback, during a fan Q&A. They were responding to a question about the negative perception surrounding him.
In the latest episode of their podcast “Calm Down,” both broadcasters praised Prescott as a “great person” on and off the field. This discussion arises against the backdrop of his personal life being in the spotlight, particularly after his ex-fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, called off their wedding in Italy, citing issues related to infidelity.
A fan posed the question: “Why does Dak get so much hate? People often mention he’s a great leader and teammate.”
Thompson responded, “He’s a fantastic guy, truly a top-notch person. He’s faced a lot of hardship, losing both his brother and mother. He’s been an advocate for mental health awareness and early cancer detection. So, honestly, I don’t get it.”
Even though Andrews and Thompson didn’t share their personal connections to Prescott, they agreed that much of the animosity towards him stems from his status as a Cowboys player. “He’s on a team that people generally dislike,” Thompson pointed out. “There’s always going to be scrutiny, and Dak knows that.”
They both argued that those who hate him often choose to do so without a valid reason. “They’re just trying to be contrarian,” Thompson noted. “And it’s easy to target him, especially since the narrative around the Cowboys tends to fluctuate.”
Andrews chimed in, demonstrating her support for Prescott, “I think he’s a great teammate, and I’ve seen him grow a lot.”
She added playfully that she feels like Prescott’s older sister since she has been covering him since his rookie season in 2016. “I’ve seen him through tough times and moments of joy. He really is a nice person,” she said, revealing that he once made an anonymous donation at a charity event she attended.
Thompson reiterated their support, saying, “We’re on Team Dak here. We’d gladly wave the Dak flag.”
Meanwhile, Prescott and Ramos, who is a certified wine and spirits specialist, were poised to marry on April 10 in Lake Como, Italy, after dating for two years. However, following a recent bachelorette trip to the Bahamas, Ramos ended the relationship.
Reports indicate that Prescott confronted Ramos about claims he had been using a secret social media account to contact multiple women, including ex-girlfriends. Ramos, 32, denied that the split was related to a prenuptial agreement, stating on Instagram that those rumors were unfounded.
The couple got engaged in October 2024 and have two daughters, aged 2 and born in May of last year. Prescott has yet to publicly comment on the situation.
