Zach Wilson Signs with Saints

Zach Wilson is diving into the Mardi Gras spirit as he joins the New Orleans Saints. The 2021 No. 2 overall pick for the Jets inked a one-year deal, though the specifics of the contract haven’t been disclosed yet.

With Wilson now on board, he’ll be in a quarterback room that includes Tyler Schau and Spencer Rattler. In terms of experience, it’s certainly an intriguing mix.

This recent move follows Wilson’s time with the Miami Dolphins last season, where he appeared in four games, completing six of his eleven passes for a total of 32 yards—without a touchdown, surprisingly. I mean, when Tua Tagovailoa was benched during that chaotic season, the Dolphins turned to rookie Quinn Ewers instead of giving Wilson another shot, which must’ve been frustrating for him.

Interestingly, this marks Wilson’s fourth team since he entered the NFL. He started strong with the Jets, beginning with 13 games in his rookie season, and then nine the following year. But there were bumps along the way, including a brief spell where Aaron Rodgers took over his position. After Rodgers faced a season-ending injury, Wilson found himself back in the starting lineup.

His overall record with the Jets stands at 12 wins to 21 losses, racking up 6,293 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. That’s not quite the trajectory he must have envisioned, though there were moments that showed promise.

After being traded in 2024, Wilson’s time with the Broncos didn’t quite go as planned; he was the third-string QB and didn’t see the field. Despite that, he mentioned he learned quite a bit during his stint there, which, I guess, is something.

Wilson had a standout college career at BYU, throwing for over 7,600 yards and 71 total touchdowns, leading the team to an impressive 11-1 record in his junior year. As he embarks on this new chapter in New Orleans, he and his wife, Nicolette Delano, might find the change of scenery refreshing.
