Eagles Strengthen Wide Receiver Group
The Philadelphia Eagles have bolstered their wide receiver lineup.
Elijah Moore has signed a one-year deal with the team, as reported by Ian Rapoport from NFL Network.
Moore, who was a second-round pick by the Jets in 2021, had back-to-back seasons with over 100 targets. However, he only managed to play in nine games for the Bills last year, totaling nine receptions for 112 yards and a rushing touchdown against the Jets before being let go.
The 25-year-old later joined the Broncos but mainly stayed on the practice squad, although he did make a brief appearance in the AFC Championship game.
In a contest that ended in a 10-7 defeat to the Patriots, Moore recorded just one catch for four yards.
What’s especially intriguing about this signing is the friendship between Moore and Eagles star A.J. Brown. They played together at Ole Miss, and according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Brown has credited Moore for being a crucial support during his mental health challenges.
Moore once described their bond, saying, “I wouldn’t call this a friendship. It’s a family.” This connection is significant, highlighting their shared experiences and the depth of their relationship.
For quite some time, there was speculation regarding Brown’s future with the Eagles, and whether he would be traded. This uncertainty lingered particularly in early March when reports suggested that the Eagles were likely holding onto him for now, despite serious discussions regarding potential trades involving the Rams and Patriots.
General manager Howie Roseman expressed admiration for Brown after the Eagles’ playoff loss to the 49ers, highlighting the challenge of finding truly great players. He noted, “I think AJ is a great player. From my perspective, we’re trying to improve in all areas, and it can’t be subtractive.”
