US Deploys Additional Troops to the Middle East
In a recent escalation in response to ongoing tensions with Iran, nearly 1,500 soldiers and essential personnel from the 82nd Airborne have been dispatched to the Middle East. This move comes amid heightened military activity in the region.
So far, around 290 U.S. military members have reported injuries during Operation Epic Fury, as confirmed by U.S. Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins of U.S. Central Command. He noted that most of these injuries were minor, and over 255 soldiers have already returned to their duties.
Tragically, the operation, which commenced on February 28, has resulted in the deaths of 13 American troops. On March 1, a military officer was killed due to an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait, which was particularly devastating, as another officer injured in a separate Iranian attack in Saudi Arabia also succumbed on the same day.
The U.S. offensive against Iranian-backed militias in Iraq is ongoing, and Baghdad has issued warnings about its right to respond to these actions.
In further incidents, six military personnel died on March 12 when a KC-135 aircraft crashed in western Iraq during a combat mission related to this operation.
U.S. military efforts have reportedly inflicted considerable damage on the Iranian government, including the death of a notable figure, former supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
CENTCOM revealed that over 140 Iranian vessels have been either damaged or destroyed as part of Operation Epic Fury, which has included upwards of 9,000 combat flights.
The command emphasized that they are concentrating on threats that pose immediate danger, aiming to weaken the Iranian regime’s security framework.
