Sacramento Gas Station Ransacked by Mob of Teens
Surveillance footage has surfaced showing a chaotic scene at a gas station convenience store in Sacramento, where a large group of teenagers wreaked havoc, tossing merchandise around and leaving one employee to manage the chaos alone.
The Sacramento Police Department reported that this incident took place on March 19 at a Chevron Station located on Folsom Boulevard. A surge of juveniles flooded into the store, vandalizing it as they went.
Police received a call that evening regarding about 25 to 30 teens causing a disturbance in that area. The caller expressed skepticism about whether officers would arrive.
Days later, on March 23, the business reported thefts that occurred during the uproar. Officers confirmed they had received a report but noted that the investigation remains in its initial stages.
Store manager Shailesh Chand revealed that what began with a few teenagers quickly escalated into a group of dozens, leading to extensive damage as they knocked products off shelves and threw snacks and drinks around.
“They seem to think they can just walk into any store and do whatever they want without consequences,” Chand remarked when reflecting on the incident.
Chand added that the lone employee on duty was overwhelmed and distressed as the situation spiraled out of control. Video footage depicted items like chips and beverages being tossed and scattered throughout the aisles.
Chand mentioned that aggressive behavior like this is becoming more common, moving beyond mere shoplifting. “We’re seeing an increase in hostility,” he shared, noting that the store has faced multiple incidents requiring repairs, particularly to the front door.
“People who engage in this type of behavior are often quite confrontational,” he commented.
He also expressed hope that those involved are identified and held accountable, urging anyone who might recognize the individuals in the footage to step forward.
Chand expressed his frustration regarding the impact on his business, especially considering the volatile gas prices. “It’s tough to stay afloat when you’re already facing losses,” he noted.
The police mentioned that this group might be linked to other disturbances in the area on the same night. Initially, officers did not respond to the Chevron location since a formal report hadn’t been filed yet.
The investigation is still ongoing.
