Washington — Update on Alabama Senate Race
Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.) has surged ahead in the Republican primary for Alabama’s Senate seat, largely due to a significant influx of cryptocurrency funding he received earlier this year, as indicated by a new poll shared with Breitbart News.
The poll, carried out by Tony Fabrizio’s Fabrizio Lee & Associates, places Moore in the lead over Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.
Currently, Moore has 23% support, while Marshall has decreased to 16%. Jared Hudson, the third candidate, holds 9%, and other candidates have less than 2% backing. Notably, 49% remain undecided on their choice.
This represents a notable shift from just a few months prior when Marshall led with 20% compared to Moore’s 13% in January.
When Moore and Marshall are pitted against each other directly, Moore is ahead, 33% to 28%, with 39% still undecided. This is the first notable change since January when Marshall had 34% and Moore was at 22%, with 43% undecided.
The most recent poll surveyed 600 likely Republican primary voters in Alabama between March 18 and 19, with a margin of error of 4 percentage points. The earlier poll was conducted from January 26 to 28.
A memo from Fabrizio Lee & Associates highlights the significant impact of the funding boost from Save American Jobs, stating this support has propelled Moore to lead the Republican primary for the Senate.
As reported earlier by Breitbart News, the super PAC Defend American Jobs, which is aligned with FairShake, invested $5 million in ads that featured President Trump endorsing Moore during the primary. The polling around that time suggested that if Moore successfully garnered support by aligning with Trump, his standings would increase dramatically. According to the recent Fabrizio numbers, this seems to have materialized as Moore now leads the race and gains momentum before the May 19 primary.
A spokesperson for Defend American Jobs noted, “Barry Moore is a known pro-jobs, pro-consumer, and pro-American advocate when it comes to technology. In the Senate, we aim to join the most pro-crypto Congress ever and promote smart regulations for the industry.”
The winner of the May Republican primary is expected to be the party nominee for the upcoming November election, seen as the likely successor to retiring U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama), who is running for governor.
