Home steamers recalled after reports of multiple burn injuries

Wagner Spraytech has announced a recall, affecting around 700,000 power steamers sold in the U.S. and approximately 8,000 in Canada, following incidents where the devices may overheat, potentially causing burns.

The recall specifically involves the 905e Auto Steamer, 915e On-Demand Power Steamer, and 925e Steam Machine Elite Steamer. These models share a common base unit but vary in accessories. They were sold at major retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, Target, HSN, QVC, Amazon, and directly through Wagner’s website.

As stated in the recall notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the steamers, manufactured in China and imported by Wagner Spray Tech Corp. based in Plymouth, Minnesota, pose a burn risk. The issue arises when the hose gets excessively hot, leading to hot water spraying from the nozzle or gun during or after use.

These steamers have a yellow and black boiler base marked “Wagner,” paired with a black steam hose and a trigger-operated nozzle. You can typically find the model number on the side of the unit.

The CPSC reported that Wagner received at least 156 complaints regarding overheating hoses and hot water ejection from nozzles. Notably, over 50 of these complaints involved burns on customers’ arms, hands, feet, and faces, with some classified as first- or second-degree burns.

These affected steamers were priced between $130 and $200 and were available from November 2018 until March 2026, according to the regulators.

Consumers are strongly advised to cease using the recalled steamers immediately and reach out to Wagner for a free repair kit, which includes a hose sleeve, nozzle cover, and funnel to help reduce burn risks.

If you need assistance, you can contact Wagner at 800-962-6118 or visit their website for details on obtaining a repair kit.
