Israeli couple split following the October 7 attack to concentrate on recovery

An Israeli couple, Noah Algamani, 28, and Abinatan Orr, 32, who were tragically kidnapped by Hamas during the events of October 7, have reportedly ended their relationship.

They were taken captive for over two years after being abducted during the Nova festival, held in separate locations in Gaza. Algamani became widely known after distressing images and videos of her being taken by militants captured global attention.

In a heart-wrenching plea, she was heard crying, “Please don’t kill me!” as she was taken away.

Now, as they both grapple with the severe trauma stemming from their ordeal, the couple has opted to focus on “personal healing,” as noted by Israeli media.

Sources close to them indicated that their breakup was amicable and respectful.

Algamani endured 245 days in captivity, while Orr was among the final group of hostages released after enduring prolonged imprisonment, hunger, and loneliness.

Dramatic scenes unfolded during their reunion in October 2025, with Algamani smiling and Orr affectionately kissing her on the cheek.

Following the news of their separation, Jewish Life Now, a contemporary cultural publication, remarked on social media, “Not all stories that start with trauma follow the same path… sometimes, survival marks just the beginning, and healing takes its own time.”

Many who were inspired by their journey commended the couple for their strength in making this difficult decision after all they’ve faced together.

“They’re both incredibly brave,” one commenter noted, emphasizing the complexity of healing from such trauma. “This isn’t an uncommon situation for couples who endure similar experiences. I wish them both peace moving forward.”

Algamani has not yet responded to requests for comment.
