Over 100 Arrested at Underage Drinking Party in Gulf Shores

Authorities took action on Thursday night, detaining over 100 individuals during a spring break house party in Gulf Shores, Alabama, linked to underage drinking.

This incident took place on West Beach Boulevard as part of a law enforcement initiative responding to noise and crowd complaints, according to local reports.

Detective Carl Wittstruck from Gulf Shores Police stated that there were 113 people present in the home at that time. The police, who arrived around 11 p.m., aimed to identify the homeowner. During their investigation, an unknown person allegedly dumped beer from an upper balcony onto the officers below, soaking their uniforms and gear. The report indicated that most partygoers were underage, and there was a significant amount of alcohol available at the location.

In total, 109 individuals were arrested on charges of underage alcohol possession, while one person faced conspiracy charges. Four others were released without any charges.

Officials expressed their commitment to promptly address such legal breaches. They reiterated their message of welcoming visitors to enjoy Gulf Shores but emphasized a strict zero-tolerance policy towards behaviors that disrupt public safety and enjoyment.

In addition, video footage captured officers at the scene, with reports noting that just a day prior, police dealt with another house party nearby, resulting in 31 arrests.

Wittstruck reinforced the department’s zero-tolerance stance regarding minors possessing alcohol or drugs, reiterating that no alcohol is permissible on the beaches. They prefer to educate and warn where possible, but enforcement will be carried out when necessary.

In a separate spring break incident in Port Aransas, Texas, a tragic event occurred on March 14 when a 22-year-old man was fatally injured after being thrown from a moving Jeep, where he had been seen dancing. Following the accident, the Jeep’s driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
