Protests Turn Violent Across Multiple Cities
Protests under the banner “No King” erupted in chaos across various cities on Saturday, with some demonstrators clashing with federal officers and a faction in New York City explicitly calling for a communist revolution.
In Manhattan, tens of thousands of people gathered, particularly near Times Square, where a group wielded red hammer and sickle flags and chanted, “There’s only one solution: communist revolution,” as reported by the New York Post. The event drew notable attendees, including actor Robert De Niro and New York State Attorney General Letitia James. Interestingly, the NYPD reported no arrests linked to these protests.
Independent journalist Olya Scootercaster captured the scene on video, showcasing the chants, which have sparked discussions on social media.
Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, around 1,000 demonstrators surrounded the Roybal Federal Building, reportedly throwing rocks, bottles, and concrete blocks at staff members. Officials from the Department of Homeland Security disclosed that two employees required medical attention, and a warning was issued: anyone who assaults law enforcement could face federal felony charges.
In Portland, violence broke out near an ICE facility post-rally. Footage revealed a masked protester confronting a DHS worker while other attendees hurled objects at law enforcement. The Portland police made three arrests on assault and criminal mischief charges, including one individual who climbed onto the roof of the building.
Additionally, some protesters breached the facility’s main gate and burned an American flag, as highlighted by local news sources.
Over in Dallas, police had to intervene to separate “No Kings” demonstrators from “Pro-America” counter-protesters, leading to at least one arrest following clashes between both groups, which included inappropriate behavior.
This marked the third mobilization of the “No Kings” protests since June 2025, with a recent investigation revealing that around 500 groups, including various communist and socialist organizations, have been involved in coordinating these demonstrations.
Groups like the Communist Party of the United States and the Democratic Socialists of America are officially part of this coalition. Notably, both groups have expressed admiration for authoritarian regimes abroad. In response to the protests, White House press secretary Abigail Jackson characterized the demonstrations as “Trump’s confusion therapy session.”
