Missing Woman in Bay Area Sparks Search

An urgent alert has been raised regarding a woman who vanished while walking her dog in the Bay Area last week.

Auckland authorities are seeking public assistance in finding Amy Hillyard, 52, who owns the well-known Furry’s coffee shop. She has been missing since Wednesday and is thought to be in a precarious state due to a medical issue.

On March 29, the California Highway Patrol issued an alert for Hillyard. According to reports, the Downtown Oakland Association has also highlighted her situation, expressing concern within the community about her disappearance.

Hillyard was last spotted on Wednesday, March 25, at around 2 p.m. in the 500 block of Ladner Road, located near Cleveland Street in Oakland’s Cleveland Heights area, not far from Lake Merritt. Witnesses mentioned that she was walking her dog, dressed in a tan top and tan pants.

A neighbor mentioned seeing her shortly before she went missing.

It’s also noted by her husband that she left her cell phone at home when she went out.

Hillyard is described as fair-skinned, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes, as per the Oakland Police Department’s information.

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Oakland Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at 510-238-3641.

Concerns about Hillyard’s wellbeing have spurred local residents and business owners to come together. Hundreds gathered for a candlelight vigil on the east side of Lake Merritt on Sunday night.

Founded in San Francisco in 1989 by her father-in-law, Roger Hillyard, Farley’s Coffee has become a cherished community gathering spot in the East Bay, as well as at SFO and OAK airports.
