Trump talks with the family of a student reportedly killed by an undocumented immigrant.

President Donald Trump has met with the family of Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old college student who was reportedly killed by an illegal immigrant in Chicago earlier this month. White House officials confirmed that Trump spoke with Gorman’s family, although they did not provide details about the conversation.

Gorman, originally from New York and a student at Loyola University Chicago, was shot near a pier in the Rogers Park area around 1 a.m. on March 19, while spending time with friends.

Authorities have identified Jose Medina Medina, a 25-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela, as the person who allegedly shot Gorman.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Medina-Medina was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol on May 9, 2023, and was released into the U.S. during the Biden administration. He had also been arrested earlier on suspicions of shoplifting but was released before facing murder charges.

Gorman was reportedly close to finishing her freshman year when the tragic event occurred. During a vigil in Yorktown Heights, her mother, Jessica Gorman, expressed her heartbreak and determination to seek justice. “As a mother, I want to say this kindly but honestly: I’m angry. I’m completely heartbroken, but we’re going to fight for justice and fight for change for sweet Sheridan,” she said.

This situation remains deeply upsetting for the community, highlighting ongoing concerns surrounding illegal immigration and public safety.
