Pete Alonso's wife shares her thoughts on the first Orioles game following his departure from the Mets

Pete Alonso’s Milestone Weekend with the Orioles

Pete Alonso had a memorable weekend, marking his first MLB Opening Weekend with the Orioles after a long stint with the Mets. The new first baseman, who signed a hefty $155 million contract, shared this experience with his wife, Haley, and their baby son.

On Monday, Haley took to Instagram to reminisce about their debut weekend in Baltimore. The post described it simply as “Opening weekend at Birdland,” featuring a sweet moment where she held their baby while Alonso, 31, stood beside her at Camden Yards. The Orioles kicked off the season with a two-game series victory over the Twins, which must have felt pretty exciting.

Alonso, who joined the Orioles in December, recorded three hits and one RBI over the course of three games. The team is set to face the Rangers for the next three days before heading to Pittsburgh for another series. Busy times ahead!

Meanwhile, Alonso’s former team, the Mets, had quite a start to their season as well. They triumphed over the Pirates 11-7 in their season opener and snagged another win on Saturday with a score of 4-2. However, they did stumble in their first loss of the season on Sunday, a close 4-3 game. Interestingly, even though Alonso has moved on, he still has a solid fan base among Mets supporters, who seem to be sending their love from afar.

Fans expressed their feelings on Haley’s social media, with one commenter saying, “Congratulations to your beautiful family! We will miss you at Citi Field… O’s are lucky to have you!” Another chimed in, “I miss you all! I will continue to support you!!” It seems the connection runs deep.

Pete Alonso originally joined the Mets in 2016, making his MLB debut in 2019. Last season, he even won the Silver Slugger Award, which is impressive. After his transfer, he shared a heartfelt message to his fans. He expressed gratitude for their unwavering support, saying things like, “Thank you for the passion… Your energy has lifted me up more than you know.” It really shows how much players appreciate their followers, doesn’t it?

Haley and Pete tied the knot in 2021. Reflecting on their year, Alonso called it special, highlighting both his new contract with the Orioles and the birth of their son. “What a year and what a life,” he noted. It’s touching to see a player so thankful and connected to both his career and his family.
