Kid Rock has faced criticism from the US military after posting a video that seemingly shows a military helicopter circling over his Nashville home. The singer, known for the hit “Cowboy,” raised his fist in excitement as two helicopters hovered nearby, capturing the moment on camera.
“I think they’ll be okay,” he commented, referring to the situation. He added, “My buddy is the Commander in Chief. What could they possibly be checking on? They only paused for a few seconds… or maybe a minute?”
Locke, who’s 55 and goes by Robert Ritchie, mentioned that it’s not uncommon for pilots to greet folks when training in the area. “I didn’t expect it, but it was pretty cool that they stopped by,” he said about the operation on Saturday. “It looked really good to me.”
As an Apache attack helicopter hovered near a pool adorned with a life-sized Statue of Liberty sculpture, he cheered. He also took to social media, asserting, “This is a level of respect for brains that the governor of California will never know.” There’s something about seeing those helicopters that hits differently, you know?
“God bless America and all who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect her,” he added poignantly.
A spokesperson from Fort Campbell confirmed that they are investigating the helicopter activity near Kid Rock’s home. Major Jonathon Brace of the 101st Airborne Division stated that the command is looking into the circumstances of the flight, emphasizing their standards for aviation safety and professionalism.
Earlier in the day, an AH-64 Apache helicopter was reported flying over the No Kings Rally protests in downtown Nashville, which added a layer of complexity to the situation. Brace clarified that the helicopters were on a training mission, and any link to the rally was merely coincidental.
Kid Rock has been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump throughout his presidential campaigns, and he didn’t hold back during the 2024 Republican National Convention, even altering the lyrics of his song “American Bad A–” to show his support.
